We got lucky!

by Zahid
(Milton)

This happend on Augest 20th,2009. The day before the tornado there were already warnings of a Severe thunder storm and 2 tornados in Milton Ontario.

First of all I was playing with my Budgies. Then I looked outside and saw that the clouds were pitch-black with green. I looked on the weather network a tornado! So, I put my budgies in my basement. Then the lights started flickering and they turned off completely. I got so excited that I went out and the power lines fell on my street. And for 5 seconds it was pure red in front of me I got so scared that I nearly cried since have never been in a thunderstorm like this. My sister got scared from the lightning. Since the lights were out and no electricity I used a battery operrated radio and it said tornado warning. Well I hid in the basement, being so scared that our new house might get destroyed and if anything happend to my dad or mom or sister. I saw the tornado and I realized that it was 5 km away from our house. But later it went to the GTA (Greater Toronto Area).

The storm went on but the lights came back and someone came over. The sky was orange after the storm. And nothing else happend. Thank God. Check out the tornado on youtube type in tornado on August 20, 2009 Toronto.
