Solar FountainsSolar fountains are fantastic as they are self contained, recycle water, and are powered by an inbuilt solar panel. A garden solar fountain requires no wiring or complicated plumbing installation and has absolutely no running costs. Installation is generally very simple; for instance, you just place the floating island in your pond (which can be anchored if needed) then sit back and enjoy the soothing sound of water.
Fountains make and ideal feature for even the smallest of ponds and most only need a few centimetres depth of water to work. Pumps are activated by bright daylight and sunlight and will create a spray of over your pond and they are also great for aiding oxygenation of your pond and because it's solar powered, it is environmentally friendly as well! 
There are so many variations; like the Cascading Fountains and Birdbaths, where a discreetly placed solar powered pump draws water to the top vessel, where it flows down from basin to basin until it reaches the bottom in a continuous recycling process. Depending on whether you have a back yard, patio or veranda you can choose from a wide range of pond fountains (complete with geysers, jets or sprays, fixed or floating) wall fountains, corner fountains, table-top or the even the traditional independent fountain to brighten up your garden. You could even use solar lights to have an illuminated fountain at night!
If you really want to impress try an animated fountain that has water and/or lighting that changes its configuration over time. A musical fountain takes this further by synchronising the fountain effects to music through programmed choreography. Although such innovation has previously only been within the capabilities of the larger fountains of the park or shopping mall, there are now affordable packages available for the home gardener. Perhaps you would like a fountain ornament? These can be anything from the classical to the comical (woman standing with champagne bottle, with water bubbling out).
Solar fountains use no energy (apart from that used to initially make the product) and those who work in Feng Shui believe that water in motion moves the "chi" around the space. When placed correctly, according to the elements of Feng Shui, water fountains can benefit or activate the "chi" in the space.
