No Idea

In the winter of 2006, my mum’s side of the family all travelled to Florida to spend chirstmas together, as a sort of family reunion. All of us live in Canada, and none of us in any area that has EVER had a tornado. It was Christmas afternoon, and we all went to one of the two houses we’d rented to prepare dinner together. There were about twenty of us. While the adults cooked, the kids went swimming. It was a nice day out, and the pool was outdoors. We swam for about an hour, when we noticed that the sky was clouding over. So, afraid it was going to rain, we went inside. Then, it got very dark, very quickly, and it was really windy. Trees were bent all the way over, and the water in the pool was whipping up all over the place. So, we turned on the news in the other room. My mom didnt want us to watch, and I didnt know why. I just thought it was a thunder storm, like we got back home. So I watched anyways. The weather forecaster reported tornado warnings in the Orange County area. I turned and asked my grandad which county we were in. He looked sort of nervous and replied, Orange county. I was terrified. I had just turned 13, and had never had to deal with this. None of us had any idea what to expect next. The house didnt have a basement, and we knew that the next best thing was a bathtub. But like I said before, there were twenty of us, and and one bathtub. By this point, the wind was howling! Louder than anything I had ever heard. I was terrified. The sky was black with a tint of green. It waw pouring rain. My aunts and uncles watched the news and the younger kids remained completely oblivious. Luckily, we never really saw the tornado. But the storm took about three hours before it really died down. We were all pretty scared. It was later classified as an F2. I dont think anyone was killed, but 200 motor homes were flipped over, and trees ripped form the ground.
