D's Tornado Story

by Chris
(Homer, Michigan, USA)

I live in southern Michigan. We get lots of tornado warnings, but it's mostly because of rotation and not tornadoes. One sunny day in September, black clouds suddenly moved in over town. I was about to go down to the library when it started to pour down rain. Lightning flashed across the sky and thunder boomed. Finally, when the rain reduced to a drizzle, I took the chance to go to the library. As I was leaving the house, I heard another storm warning on the tv but I paid no attention to it. The library had closed, but I put my books in the drop off box. Thats when the tornado siren started to wail. I ran home and found out there was a tornado warning. We were going to go dwn to the basement when the news said the tornado went away and we didn't go down their. I was glad because the basement smells bad.

The second warning happened when i was at a party. Mrs O'Dell came and told us to come and go to the basment bcause there was a tornado headed our way. We said we didn't care and kept on jumping on the trampoline. A little tornado also tore up some trees in Megan's yard.
